Where are we going next?
We believe that freedom belongs under the feet of every rider, which is why we pour ourselves and our revenue back into research and development so that the barriers that used to hold us back will become a thing of the past. May the taste of freedom never leave us.
Frontier Research Initiatives
-
Goal: Create, maintain, and distribute handheld remote controllers that are able to communicate with V2 and V3 Boosted Boards and achieve feature parity with existing Boosted remotes.
Here's what we have accomplished so far
Made a functional circuit with a deadman switch, hall effect sensor, and other interface components
Tested connection stability
Ensured software compatibility with all V2 and V3 Boosted Boards with all ride modes 1-5 on supported boards
Here's what we are in the middle of doing
Field testing with real-world Boosted riders
Designing physical remote shell and other mechanical components
Designing VESC receivers
Implement USB-C (We're still using Mini-B USB for testing purposes in current hardware revision. Boo.)
Here's what we still need to do to create our own Boosted remotes:
Field test design of the physical remote shell and other mechanical components with real-world Boosted riders
Pass Part 15 FCC Certification
Determine Final MSRP (Target MSRP: $100-$150)
-
Goal: Create, maintain, and distribute an electronic speed controller that is able to drive Boosted motors using Boosted SR and XR batteries with Boosted remotes as an input method.
Here's what we have accomplished so far
Made a functional circuit to drive Boosted motors and third-party motors
Tested connection stability with V2/V3 remotes
Ensured software compatibility with all V2 and V3 Boosted Board remotes with all ride modes 1-5 on supported boards
Here's what we are in the middle of doing
Fine tuning acceleration and speed curves
Connectivity stability testing in high-interference environments
Software compatibility testing with Blast Off, Rideboost, and Ride
Here's what we still need to do to create our own ESCs:
Ensure software compatibility SR, XR, and XR+ batteries
Field test design of the physical remote shell and other mechanical components with real-world Boosted riders
Pass Part 15 FCC Certification
Determine Final MSRP
-
Goal: Create, maintain, and distribute firmware for existing Extended Range (XR) batteries that maintains feature parity with prior existing versions of XR battery firmware.
Here's what we have accomplished so far
Created a software image that is able to speak to Boosted ESCs
Enabled Bluetooth pairing initiation functionality
Here's what we are in the middle of doing
Building full software parity with 2.5.1 and 2.1.7 firmware versions
Double tap to toggle Beams
Battery shutoff via remote
Building software update distribution tooling so that way existing Extended Range batteries can be upgraded
Here's what we still need to do to create our own B2XR (Extended Range) Battery firmware:
Full edge case testing
Full DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
Closed beta testing

Join us for the ride.
This is a movement for freedom. Whether you’re a worried Boosted Board rider who wants to maintain their board, a hotshot embedded engineer that would like to contribute to our reverse-engineering effort, or a community member that wants to contribute ideas to help us educate, we need you in our community.
ESK8
is freedom.
Our mission is to bring power back to the people. Boosted Inc. shut down in March 2020, and more than ever, Boosted Board riders need to find a way to keep their boards running until we create reliable and intuitive electric skateboard tech to succeed our beloved Boosted Boards.
